THE BASICS

What Is Morse Code?

Morse code represents letters and numbers as patterns of short signals (dots) and long signals (dashes). Invented in the 1830s for the telegraph, it is still used by radio amateurs and as an emergency signal, because it can be sent with lights, sounds or taps.

In written form, letters are separated by a space and words by a slash. This translator converts in both directions and can play the code back as beeps.
